Atonement III

I introduced certain changes in the original pattern. As the dress pattern showed a straight skirt for the dress, I looked for a skirt pattern with more "flight", a wider skirt. I did not want a tight skirt or a straight one because I do not like the way that kind of dresses look on me, let's say I prefer the dresses whose skirts seem to dance as you are walking, and the green one by Keira Knightley represents that perfectly.

He introducido varios cambios con respecto al patrón original. En el patrón la falda es recta y yo quería una con más vuelo, más amplia. No quería que la falda fuera recta porque por experiencia, no me favorecen los evstidos rectos, digamos - de forma poética y cursi- que me gustan los vestidos con faldas que parece que bailan o tienen algo de vida cuando caminas, y el que lleva Knightley en la película es perfecto en ese sentido.

Therefore, for the skirt I chose the pattern of a wedding dress, though I had to modify it as well because the pattern was for a very wide skirt and I did not need something so....wedding dress. Finally I got the pattern I wanted for my dress.

There was another modification I had to make to my dress: the shoulder straps. My original pattern had several straps crossing at the back. In the green dress we can see two straps that do not cross at all, they go from the shoulders to the end of the back. However, I could not wear two straps without crossing because of the design of the back of my dress. In the case of the my pattern, the two straps would make the dress uncomfortable because some movements would make the dress too, let's say "indiscreet". I will post photos once the dress is finished.
Había una modificación más que tenía que hacer: los tirantes. El patrón original tenía tirantes que se cruzaban varias veces en la espalda. El vestido verde tiene dos tirantes que no se cruzan, son rectos y van desde los hombros hasta el final de la espalda. Sin embargo, yo no podía llevar ese tipo de tirantes sin que se cruzaran por el diseño de la espalda de mi vestido. Llevar tirantes rectos en mi vestido sería incómodo porque al moverme el vestido podía resultar algo indiscreto en los laterales. Pondré fotos cuando el vestido esté acabado.
